Personal commitment in a very large operation is soon lost due to blanket policies rigidly enforces on all vessel types and situation. Our vessels are able to trade worldwide in a multitude of trade routes carrying a wide range of cargoes covering a number of industries. Our fleet carrying capacity totals 235,000 deadweight tons of dry bulk, container & general cargo vessels. We are focused on ensuring our vessels adhere to the highest safety and environmental standards.

Bayraktar Shipping Group Of Companies was founded 1945 and is one of the oldest and internationally recognised shipping companies in Turkey.

  • 1920

    Bayraktar Shipping Group was founded by Cpt. Arif Bayraktar in İstanbul.

  • 1935

    Bayraktar’s first ship; 150 dwcc coaster “M/V SON MODA” was built, floating within Black Sea ports mainly carrying coal.

  • 1947

    Bayraktar’s second ship; 250 dwcc wooden coaster “M/V ŞANAL” was built, floating within Marmara Sea ports mainly carrying coal.

  • 1976

    Company’s own side industrial plant was established in Golden Horn.

  • 1978

    Second plant was built in Tuzla and Bayraktar’s first steel constructed vessel ever, M/V ARIF KAPTAN (1250 dwcc), was built and presented to the industry and it is still serving within Turkish Cabotage waters.

  • 1999 to 2003

    One container vessel per annum was added to Bayraktar’s fleet ranging between 6,200 dwt to 11,600 dwt

  • 2005

    Bayraktar has become the first company to use ABS NS5 quality systems in Turkey

  • 2007

    The company was awarded with “Lloyd’s List Shipping Award” in the category of “Dry Cargo Company of the Year”

  • 2008

    M/V AYSE NAZ BAYRAKTAR, having 21,400 dwt, was built 

  • 2009

    M/V AYSE NAZ BAYRAKTAR’s sister vessel M/V GOZDE BAYRAKTAR, having 21,400 dwt, was built

  • 2009

    The company, very much caring for students and education, has built a dormitory in Rize, Turkey; having a total of 300 beds.

  • 2010

    Bayraktar has become the first ship owner who ordered a 58,000 dwt bulk carrier vessel (M/V Kaptan Arif Bayraktar) at a Turkish shipyard

  • 2011

    The company ordered and owned its largest bulk carrier vessel (M/V ECE NUR BAYRAKTAR, 58,500 dwt) and added one more Supramax type vessel to its fleet

  • 2015

    Bayraktar is proud to continue serving to maritime industry with a total number of 14 vessels reaching to 235,000 dwt in its fleet
